by Frank Muller

Why does my eye gaze upwards, towards that peak

forged so long ago.

What draws my reason to seek these heights yet my fear

slows the climb and weakens the will.

Which path shall I take to reach that summit

high, the one well-worn or undiscovered.

Who sits upon that mountain top and in whom authority

ever flows, a river cascading down with water that nourishes

and provides.

Ah, the sands and sounds of the ocean are soothing and calm

indeed, yet the idleness eventually numbs the mind.

Upon this rock, I dare to climb. Moving higher and higher with

each sigh.

And when, I sit in that place and in whose reason, I now embrace, a fitting spot

for a tent to stay,

and in that tent listen and pray.
